The ancient Romans called this month Quinctilis - the fifth - before Julius Caesar renamed it after himself with the quiet confidence of a man who was clearly having an excellent year.

Less coat, less hurry, less guilt about staying in the park a bit longer or lingering over a second glass because the light is still doing that thing and nobody wants to be the one who ends it.
